Help shape the future of small site housing development in Lewisham.
Architects Ash Sakula and RCKa have been appointed by the London Borough of Lewisham to help develop a Supplementary Planning Document* and design code for housing on small sites, to be adopted in early 2021.
The document will help the people of Lewisham create high-quality new homes on small sites across the borough, providing examples of best practice and helping to place small-scale housing development within reach of ordinary people.
As part of our initial fact-finding stage we are seeking your experiences of planning for small sites in Lewisham – good or bad! We’re keen to hear from homeowners, self-builders, small developers and architects about what opportunities and challenges you faced when trying to obtain planning permission for homes on small sites. (The Mayor of London’s new London Plan defines “small sites” as anything a quarter of a hectare or less – that’s just over 1/3 of the area of a standard football pitch).
If you’d like to contribute to our study, we’d love to hear from you. Feel free to contact us using the submission form below.

* A Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) is a formal piece of planning policy which provides additional guidance on how to meet the requirements of the wider Local Plan. You can read more about Lewisham’s Local Plan here.
